One of my friends got a call from an unknown number, and the person on that call said to him, “Congratulations, you have won Rs. 5 million in ‘Jeeto Pakistan Program’. You need to provide your CNIC number and OTP to verify your identity”.
After hearing this, my friend gave him the OTP that arrived on his phone number. After just 1 or 2 minutes, all of his JazzCash wallet balance vanished, which was around Rs. 15000.

What Are Fake or Scam Calls in Pakistan?

Fake or scam calls in Pakistan are phone calls made to trick people into giving personal information or money. Scammers often claim to be from banks, government programs, lottery schemes, or popular TV programs.
Common names used in these calls include “Jeeto Pakistan Program,” “Benazir Income Support Program,” or local banks like JazzCash, EasyPaisa, and HBL. Callers may ask for CNIC numbers, OTP codes, or banking details.
They use fear, urgency, or promises of rewards to manipulate the recipient. These calls result in unauthorized access to bank accounts, mobile wallets, or personal data. Awareness and verification are essential to avoid losses.
How to Report Scam Calls in Pakistan?
Scam calls in Pakistan have become increasingly common, targeting individuals through fake claims about lottery winnings, government programs, or bank services.

Reporting these calls promptly helps prevent financial loss and assists authorities in taking action against scammers.
Follow these steps to report a scam call effectively.
Step 1: Contact the SIM Operator
Identify the mobile network of the caller, such as Jazz, Zong, Telenor, or Ufone. Contact the operator’s customer support and provide the phone number used by the scammer. Request the operator to report and block that SIM to prevent further misuse. Keep any evidence of the call, such as call logs or SMS messages, for reference.
Step 2: File a Complaint with PTA
If the mobile operator does not take immediate action, file a complaint with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Visit the PTA Complaint Portal (https://complaint.pta.gov.pk/RegisterComplaint.aspx) and create a user profile using your CNIC.
Enter the following details:
- CNIC number
- Full name as per CNIC
- Mobile phone number
- City
- Password for account creation
- OTP verification received on your mobile
Click “Sign Up” to complete registration. Once registered, log in and submit a complaint with full details of the scam call.

Step 3: Report Financial Scams to FIA
If the scam involves financial programs like Jeeto Pakistan or Benazir Income Support, report the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Use the email complaints@fia.gov.pk or call their helpline 111-345-786. Provide all relevant details, including messages, calls, and transaction records.
Step 4: Action by Authorities
After filing a complaint, PTA will block the IMEI of the device used in the scam and blacklist the CNIC of the scammer.
